Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki was created in Miami, Florida on the 30th November 1977. He is an American electro house musician and record producer. He is also a D.J. Music executive. He is the third of Chizuru and Rocky Aoki's kids. His father was a former wrestler and also helped to develop the chain of restaurants Benihana. He has 2 older siblings, sister Kana (who is often referred to by her middle name Grace) and brother Kevin (owner of Doraku Sushi restaurant). The half-sister of his is Devon Aoki, a model and actress. He was born in Newport Beach and graduated from Newport Harbor High School with an 1995 B.A. in badminton. Then, he attended UC Santa Barbara, graduating with two B.A. He earned two bachelor's degrees, one in feminist Studies and the one in Sociology. He was a college student who made records on his own and hosted underground music in his Biko area at the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. The Pickle Patch became a concert venue after the apartment was renamed The Pickle Patch. He was active in student activism , and he founded the Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League section on campus. In his early 20s he had built his own record label, which was called Dim Mak. The name is a reference for his hero from his childhood, Bruce Lee. The label came out with I'm IN THE HOUSE in the year 2000, a collaboration with the Zuper Blahq, the alter-ego of will.i.am. The song charted at No. 29 in the U.K. Singles Chart in the first week of its release. It later entered the U.K. Dance Chart & the U.K. Indie Chart, placing in the top 5 in both charts. The track was featured on an episode of MTV's Jersey Shore as well as in the feature film Piranha & the trailer for Think Like A Man. Producer and songwriter Lucas Secon confirmed in a May 2010 interview w/ HitQuarters, that he and Rivers Cuomo had recently worked with Aoki on a single. He was named the highest-grossing North American dance artist by Pollstar in 2012. He has worked with artists like Afrojack and Linkin Park, Afrojack. Linkin Park, Will.i.am. Lil Jon. Blink-182, Laidback Luke. BTS. Louis Tomlinson. Rise Against. Vini Vii & Fall Out Boy. He is known for his remixes of artists including Kid Cudi.
