  Summer Bishil was raised in Pasadena (California). At the age of three, she left California and older, her family relocated to the United States. Summer was a student at British and American schools as her family was living abroad. returning to her home town of Pasadena just short of her birthday of 14. Summer, who had been attracted by the idea she would be an actor from the age of five she took her first acting class at the age of 14. Nine months later, Summer signed with an agent and a manager and began to pursue her career full-time. In her spare time, she is enrolled in college and studying for her degree. One of the young stars featured in Vanity Fair's cover story, "Hollywood's New Wave: The Hottest Kids in Hollywood" in August 2008.Was named one of the "Ten Actors to Watch" by Variety (2007).Nominee for Best Actress - Spirit Award. At the age of 14 Bishil began acting lessons. Within a year, Bishil was signed to an agreement by a manager or agency. Bishil's first role was on the short-lived Nickelodeon show Just for Kicks, followed by appearances on a variety of other children's shows.Bishil's first big break came when she played the lead character in Alan Ball's film, Towelhead in 2007, an adaptation of the novel with the same name. Dana Stevens, a critic for Slate, said that Bishil's performance was "the most authentic thing" in an film that, despite its best intentions made it feel fake and mildly embarrassing. It was like an extended PSA concerning inappropriate touching. Bob Strauss writes for many Los Angeles newspapers and states that Bishil "...is one of the best natural actresses on film of all time. In a September 12 Los Angeles Times review, Gary Goldstein stated that Summer Bishil, an unproven "...newcomer who is a newcomer, delivers an enthralling and confident performance as Jasira. She was the director of Wayne Kramer's Crossing Over project in 2009 with Harrison Ford and Ray Liotta. Jay Reiner of the Associated Press liked her portrayal. She was chosen to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan’s film The Last Airbender (2010). The sequel was never released.
