Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on the 17th
of November 1978 in London, Ontario, Canada, to Sandra Kay (Gale), an RN, and
Lance Frederick McAdams, truck driver and furniture moving. She is Englishas
well as Welsh-, Irish--, and Scottish. Rachel began her acting career at the
age of 13 and at the age of 13 she was starring in Shakespearean productions in
summer theater camp. She later was able to graduate with honors , earning the
BFA degree in Theater at York University. After appearing in the Disney's The
Famous Jett Jackson episode (1998), she starred in Slings and Arrows, a
Canadian comedy-drama that follows the trials and triumphs of the Shakespearean
theater group. In 2003, she was awarded an award called a Gemini award. The
role she played in Mean Girls (2004) Regina George, in Mean Girls (2004)
instantly earned her the attention of Hollywood's most coveted young actresses.
She followed that film with her own starring role alongside Ryan Gosling in the
adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks bestseller The Notebook (2004), which was a
surprise box-office hit and quickly became the main romantic drama for a brand
new young audience of film lovers. McAdams and Gosling began to fall in love
while filming and continued to date until the middle of 2007. McAdams and
Gosling were soon engaged and began to date. The role she played in the war
drama The Lucky Ones (2007), the newspaper thriller State of Play (2009) and
the romantic comedy The Time Traveler's Wife (2009) was the next film to
follow, and she then starred in the role of Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law in
Guy Ritchie's international blockbuster Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams was the
determined producer of Morning Glory (2010). She also was the fiancee with a
materialistic character Owen Wilson in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris (2011).
McAdams returned to romantic drama in The Vow (2012), where she played opposite
Channing Tatum. The actress also stars with Ben Affleck in Terrence Malick's To
the Wonder (2012) and with Noomi Rapace in Brian De Palma's thriller Passion
(2012).In 2005, McAdams received ShoWest's "Supporting Actress of the
Year" Award, as well as the "Breakthrough Actress of the Year"
at the Hollywood Film Awards
